About The Center

The Center is the only ABA Approved and Accredited Paralegal College in the state of Texas. We have specialized exclusively in the education of paralegals since opening our doors in 1987. Due to the ability of our graduates, and the reputation of our faculty and staff, the legal community recognizes the Center as a leader in paralegal education.


Admissions

At the Center, we provide personal appointments and consideration for your interest in the legal profession . After all, you’re the one taking steps to do something different in your life. We acknowledge that, and offer you the utmost in professionalism and personal one-on-one assistance in order to help you meet your career goals.


Advisory Committee

Center for Advanced Legal Studie's Advisory Committee is comprised of professionals from the legal community and the public and private business sectors. Each member contributes significant insight into the paralegal profession and it's future.


Blackboard

The Center utilizes Blackboard Learning System as it's course management system. This help topic contains information useful in accessing and using Blackboard.


Faculty

All of the law classes at the Center are taught by licensed, practicing attorneys or in the case of very practical classes such as Computers and the Law, qualified/practicing paralegals. Also, guest speakers are invited from time to time to address the students on various topics. For those students enrolled in the A.A.S. Degree paralegal program, the general education instructors each have a minimum of a master's degree in their area of specialty.

Law School

Over the past 22 years, many graduates of the Center have gone on to law school and are practicing lawyers today. Their decision to attend paralegal school and work as a legal professional while attending law school allowed them to make a smoothe transition to their own law practice. What an advantage they earned for themselves. .


Online Instruction

Students now have access to our paralegal classes via online instruction. Boring, you say. But wait! What we offer is not your typical online instruction. At the CENTER, we have designed our online classes to include live, interactive teaching sessions. Utilizing the latest in distance education technology, your paralegal education comes alive and allows you to discuss, in real-time via webcam, topics, issues, questions and assignments with your instructor and fellow students.*


Our Paralegal Programs

Both the Paralegal Certificate program and the AAS Degree program ensure our graduates earn the degree requirements recommended to enter the paralegal profession. Paralegal Certificate students have received a bachelor’s degree prior to entering the Center, whereas AAS Degree students earn their degree upon completion.

The Paralegal Profession

There are probably as many definitions of the paralegal profession as there are attorneys, corporations, government agencies, and other entities that employ them. Perhaps this is a testament to their value and versatility. However, legal organizations and associations have established concise definitions to help clarify and standardize the paralegal profession and the paralegal’s role.


Transferring Credits

If you previously attended another accredited college and earned credit as an undergraduate student, you may be eligible to transfer these hours into our AAS Degree Paralegal Program. A maximum of 12 semester hours of legal specialty courses may be transferred into our program. A minimum of 50% of our program’s total credit hours must be earned at the Center to be awarded our degree.
