He graduated from the University of Houston Law Center, where he won membership on five moot court teams, including two that attended Nationals, and one that reached Semi-Finals at ABA regional competition in New Orleans.

Jim has been an active practicing attorney in the real estate industry for many years. He is one of only a few hundred Texas attorneys who are Board Certified as a Specialist in both Commercial and Residential Real Estate by the State Bar of Texas’ Board of Legal Specialization. Jim also holds a real estate broker’s license. In addition, Jim Wiedemer has published several books, which are used by many colleges, universities and realty boards in Texas. Jim has also given numerous radio and televised talk show interviews. Jim has been paid to be a guest speaker from Amarillo to Center, Texas. He is also involved in the Texas Real Estate Teacher’s Association (TRETA), where was elected for TRETA’s statewide Board of Director and served as Treasurer in 2002 and President-Elect beginning April 2003.

Teaching:
Mr. Wiedemer was the Center’s first real estate instructor and has continued to teach at the Center for Advanced Legal Studies for the past twenty-three years.  Jim really gets involved in each of his classes and has always incorporated field trips and projects into his syllabus in an effort to ensure students’ understanding of the subject.
Much of his success as an instructor stems from the personal interest he takes in each of his students. Jim Wiedemer is an instructor that the Center’s graduates do not easily forget.
